Elves are overall the fastest though most fragile race.

Elven units, especially the cheap ones, have a fast movement speed. This is balanced by the lack of any real protector unit (other than ones you have to pay gold to get). As such elven units are good at tying up the enemy early on, and then by the time the enemy advances you will hopefully have had time to bring out your mass damage dealers and healers.
